AUSTIN, Texas – With more than 100 years of innovation,
Chevrolet continues to customize vehicle technology to fit customers’
growing needs by working with inspired engineers, designers and program
managers focused on personalizing vehicles.
Throughout South by Southwest
®, members of the Chevrolet
MyLink infotainment system, hybrid and battery systems, and performance
integration teams are sharing innovative approaches to find New Roads
that help contribute to a greater overall ownership experience for
Chevrolet customers.
Sara LeBlanc, global program manager for Chevrolet MyLink, is
inspired by how customers can personalize their driving experience
through the use of in-vehicle technology.
“Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system is a simple and safe design
that can truly take customers anywhere they want to go, whether that’s
transporting them back to their favorite South by Southwest concert
through music apps or helping them explore new restaurants or venues in
their hometown,” she said.
For John Bednarchik, a Chevrolet aerodynamic performance engineer, it
is helping customers get better fuel economy by making vehicles as
aerodynamic as possible.
Festival-goers can check out the
Chevrolet Spark
equipped with the next-gen Chevrolet MyLink technology on display
during the SXSW Trade Show at the Austin Convention Center through March
13.

Some Chevrolet milestones over the decades:
- 1911: Chevrolet produces its first car, the Series C Classic Six.
- 1913: Chevrolet creates the first valve-in-head engine.
- 1915: The hand crank is replaced through the creation of Chevrolet’s
low-priced self-starter, making it accessible to more consumers.
- 1940: Chevrolet switched gears from vehicle to wartime production,
manufacturing more than 500,000 military and war trucks during WWII.
- 1950: Powerglide automatic transmission is introduced.
- 1953: The first Corvette debuts at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
- 1959: The comfort of a car and the toughness of a truck merged with
the introduction of one of the El Camino, among the most-recognized
Chevy vehicles.
- 1972: With gasoline prices rising, Chevy began offering Light Utility Vehicles and subcompact cars.
- 1991: An all-new Chevrolet Caprice Classic is unveiled. The car
featured aero styling, differing from a market featuring almost solely
rectangular-shaped models.
- 2007: The concept version of the Chevrolet Volt is revealed at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
- 2008: The 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid helped introduce the two-mode hybrid’s green technology to full-size SUVs.
- 2012: The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV made debuts at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
